    Richard studied horticulture at Askham Bryan qualifying at Level 5 and specializing in Micropropagtion and plant science.

    Richard has worked in horticulture for over 15 years in a range of sectors including; commercial nursery work, garden maintenance, retail and design. In 2012 Richard became a tutor/course manager at Bishop Burton College teaching a range of subjects at levels 1 to 6. He has been a STEM Ambassador for 10 years promoting the STEM subjects in schools and colleges in partnership with NYBEP.

    Richard has owned a number of businesses in a variety of sectors: P.O.S./marketing, new product design and horticulture. He has been awarded a DTI Smart Award and possesses a number patents and registered designs.

    Oliver started volunteering at Ampleforth Plus in 2015 for 1 day a week, experiencing the daily horticultural tasks which changed depending on the season.

    This included propagation of seeds/cuttings, plot creation, grass cutting/strimming, installation of rabbit fence and planting of trees and hedging.

    In 2016 Oliver increased his hours to two days a week and then onto becoming a paid member of staff. He is now considering a number of qualifications including RHS Level 2 and spraying certificates.

    Julie started her career in a busy sales office of a bathroom manufacturing company, after eight years she moved to a sales role at Morphy Richards Consumer Electronics (MRCE) and rose through the ranks to Sales Supervisor where she managed key national accounts such as Argos, Grattan and Index. 

    After working at MRCE for nine years, she changed careers from sales to employment working at A4e.  At A4e Julie had various roles spanning a 9.5 year career, seeing A4e grow from a small company with seven offices to the introduction of New Deal and opening around 70 offices overnight. 

    She has over 17 years’ experience working within the welfare to work environment and was introduced to Autism Plus when they became partners to A4e on Pathways to Work in West Yorkshire, as Julie was Partnership Manager at that time at A4e. 

    Julie came to work for Autism Plus under Jobsteps eight years ago as Head of Service, managing the employment programmes across Hull, Sheffield and Derby. She moved over to The Adsetts Partnership after a year to concentrate on large tender applications such as Flexible New Deal & Work Programme and later managed all the partnership working in the Development Team at Autism Plus & The Adsetts Partnership.  In September 2015 Julie took over the management of Autism Plus’ social enterprises and non-care provision as Acting Development Director.
